Happy St. Patty’s Day

Is fearr de thu Guinness - 1920’s Irish advertisment stating "Guinness is Good for You"

I just wanted to take a second to wish all my friends and family a happy St Patty’s Day. However, this past weekend I saw something that really got my Irish temper going (because everyone with red hair is Irish, right?). While I was out on a bike ride, I noticed lots of people dressed in their green hats and beads carrying their 6 packs of Guinness on the way to their trendy little parties three whole days before the "beer drinker’s Thanksgiving." Don’t get me wrong. Under all circumstances I encourage pre-partying - just as long as you take the pre-party all the way up to the actual holiday or event. But these people were clearly partying early because St Patrick’s Day inconveniently fell on a Tuesday this year. Boohoo. That's like opening your Christmas presents on Pearl Harbor Day. You just don’t do it. However, if you are one of those dedicated souls that have been drinking since this past Friday or Saturday, then kudos to you. You must be aware that this is the 350th anniversary of Guinness being made in Dublin. Most people don't know that researchers have found that Guinness contains antioxidants similar to those found in certain fruits and vegetables. Guinness may even be beneficial for your heart. More must be better right?

Regardless, I plan on showing my Irish pride by drinking my weight in Extra Cold Guinness Special Export Stout and showing up to work in the same clothes I went to bed in. What better way to celebrate a missionary’s life work than to do some car bombs?
